Mentioned on Hacker News
What we check
We search Hacker News for your domain, across stories and comments, reading the newest hundred matches. A story or comment that links to or names your domain counts; the search itself is loose, so we only count a hit where your domain appears as a whole. Any mention passes; none fails. We also tell you how many we found and the date of the newest.
Why it matters
Hacker News is widely read, openly archived, and heavily represented in the text AI models learn from. A link there is someone independent saying your work was worth sharing, and the discussion around it is often what a model remembers about you.
It’s one window onto a bigger question — does anyone talk about you? — and one we can check without an account. Other communities may follow.
How to pass
There’s no direct fix, and this isn’t a campaign: asking friends to post or upvote breaks the site’s rules and tends to backfire. What helps:
- Publish something worth posting: an honest write-up of how you built something, original research, a useful free tool, a real lesson learned.
- If you’ve made something genuinely new, a single “Show HN” post of your own is welcome — once, written plainly.
- Join in where you have something to add, as a person, not an ad.
